INK & ART IN THE SAME STROKE

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERABy Lexie Turner

I  had the opportunity to survey six highschool students about their art and tattoos. Three are currently art students and three of the other surveyed have tattoos; two upperclassmen and a teacher here at Viera High School. Out of the students surveyed, all agree that their art is meaningful to them, be it on canvas or skin.

The art students clearly state that their inspiration ranged from turkey eating holidays to normal, everyday class assignments, whereas students with body art say that their inspiration reflects their appreciation, love, and admiration for their family or country.

All in all, to the students or people in which it means to, there’s not a difference between ink and art. No matter where your artwork’s displayed, skin or even your kitchen table, if it was created by the human hand then it’s considered art.
