Just the Right Gift for your Valentine

Palms sweating and heart beating a thousand miles a minute, Freshman Tommy Saunders faces his valentine, Freshman Ashlee Lachance, and gives her a small token of their love.

Many people are stumped on what gift they should get their Valentine this upcoming February because they don’t want to disappoint them. Well the first thing you need to acknowledge is the amount of money you are willing to spend. “I think there should be a spending limit when buying your Valentine’s gift,” explains Freshman Stephanie Vetrano. “Valentine’s Day is about being with each other and a small, yet thoughtful gift.”

The couple should set a spending limit.  Imagine going out to a fancy restaurant, all dressed up and when you proudly present your pricey gift to your loved one, they give you a card that says, “Love you lots!” Not only is that slightly disappointing, but it’s a little embarrassing. Junior Monica Mumblow says, “The amount of time the two have been dating or talking should play a part in the price of the gift. If a couple has been dating for a while, then the gift should be slightly more expensive.”

When it comes to buying gifts for guys, consider his hobbies. For example, if your crush is a football fan, consider purchasing clothing or accessories that represent his favorite team.  It will show you know his interests. Most boys agree that jewelry is the common, go-to gift for Valentine’s Day. Brennen Deplancke shares, “Jewelry makes every girl happy, and it’s an easy way to show that you care.” However, jewelry can be expensive and maybe you’re not at that point in your relationship.  Consider a gift from Charming Charlie’s.  It’s less expensive and it will show you know her style or favorite color.

Choosing the perfect gift might seem like a daunting task, but in the long run your Valentine will love whatever you get them. Remember, the day is about being together.
