Are you the type of person that likes to save money? Are you a Harry Potter fanatic? If so, we have the fix for you! If you have ever been to Harry Potter World, in Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure, then you have probably experienced their famous Butter Beer. But if you’re like most people and do not want to go all the way to Islands of Adventure to get some, then this easy homemade Butter Beer is definitely the way to go.

The recipe includes one cup of brown sugar, two tablespoons of water, six tablespoons of butter, half a teaspoon of salt, half a teaspoon of cider vinegar, three fourths cup of heavy cream, half a teaspoon of rum extract, and four twelve ounce bottles of cream soda. This recipe serves up to four people.

Towering over the whole park, the Hogwarts castle can be seen from miles away.

All you have to do is combine the brown sugar and water and boil until the temperature is 240 F. Add in the butter, salt, vinegar, and one-fourth of the heavy cream. Afterwards, set the mixture aside to cool to room temperature. Once it has cooled, stir in the rum extract, and then combine two tablespoons of the brown sugar mixture and the rest of the heavy cream. Use an electric mixer to bear the mixture for about two to three minutes. Finally, divide the brown sugar mixture into four tall glasses then add one-fourth cup of cream soda to each glass, the stir. Fill each glass with the remaining cream soda, then put whipped topping over each drink.

Some of the positive points to being able to make your own Butter Beer at home is that you don’t have to go all the way to Islands of Adventure to get it. It saves you so much time, and this way you can make large amounts of them at once instead of buying then all individually. Freshman Ciara Spencer claims, ” I’ve never had Butter Beer…. but I would try the homemade recipe.”

In Islands of Adventure, Harry Potter World puts you in a snowy environment.

The negative side to this recipe according to Sophomore Dereka Street is that nothing is better than the original. Junior Michael Grice also thinks that going all the way to the park would be worth it because “You receive the scenery and it makes the experience better.”

So see for yourself if you think you should stick to the original or the homemade Butter Beer!
